Job Summary
The Graduate Education Academic Program Director (APD) in Psychiatry is a leadership role dedicated to overseeing and managing all graduate training programs within the Department of Psychiatry, including residency, fellowship, and other specialized training initiatives. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive education that meets accreditation standards while fostering an environment of continuous improvement. The APD plays a vital role in preparing trainees for successful careers in psychiatric practice, research, and academia, aligning educational activities with departmental goals and institutional priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of graduate training curricula in collaboration with faculty, program coordinators, and clinical leaders to ensure content remains current, evidence-based, and comprehensive.
- Ensure all training programs comply with accreditation standards set by bodies such as ACGME and other relevant entities, maintaining program accreditation and quality assurance.
- Coordinate faculty development efforts, promoting faculty involvement and effectiveness in educational activities, and facilitating faculty participation in training initiatives.
- Monitor the educational progress of residents and fellows, providing mentorship, addressing professional development needs, and supporting their academic and clinical growth.
- Organize and oversee educational seminars, workshops, conferences, and assessment activities designed to enhance learning outcomes and professional development.
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to balance training needs with service delivery, ensuring a sustainable and effective training environment.
- Lead efforts to incorporate innovative teaching methods, evidence-based practices, and research opportunities into the curriculum to foster a dynamic learning environment.
- Manage program evaluations, gather feedback, analyze outcomes, and implement continuous improvements to optimize training quality.
- Serve as a key liaison between trainees, faculty, institutional administration, and accreditation bodies to facilitate communication and program integrity.
- Contribute to scholarly activities related to graduate medical education, including research, publications, and presentations.
- Promote diversity, inclusion, and wellness within the training programs to cultivate an equitable and supportive educational environment.
- Represent the department in meetings related to graduate education, accreditation, and institutional initiatives.
Board eligible in Psychiatry and NYS license required.
Preferred QualificationsWork Days:
Monday thru Friday Days, 4 hours per week
