Job Description
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to lead the modeling and simulation work in an integrated, interdisciplinary simulation and experimentation to study fundamental mechanics principles of morphological changes in biological and synthetic soft and active materials. Strong commitment to collaborative, cross-disciplinary research is especially desirable, as the researcher will work collaboratively within the labs of Teng Zhang and the experimental collaborators.
The faculty advisor will help the researcher develop a tailored individual development plan to advance his/her professional goals.
- PhD in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, physics, or a closely-related discipline.
- Demonstrate potential for excellence in research
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to drive a new project in a multidisciplinary research environment
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following project areas: modeling and simulations of nonlinear viscoelastic materials, biomechanics, numerical simulations like finite element methods and molecular dynamics, theoretical analysis, fracture
The candidate will participate in the research on the biomechanics studies of tissue boundary formation and help the PI to mentor students. For supervision, the responsibility is to mentor 1 PhD student and 1 undergraduate REU student.
