Associate Teaching Professor - Legal Communication & Research

Syracuse University College of Law invites applications for an Associate Teaching Professor position teaching Legal Communication and Research (LCR). This is a three-year contract faculty position eligible for subsequent renewals. Candidates are expected to teach in both residential and online law school programs, covering multiple sections of LCR I & II in year one and possibly other courses such as Civil Procedure.
Candidates should have an excellent academic record and hold a JD from an accredited law school. Preferred post-JD experience and credentials include advanced degrees, judicial clerkships, relevant legal practice, and prior teaching experience. A demonstrated commitment to excellent classroom teaching is required.
The anticipated start date is August 2026. This academic-year position includes up to 18 credits of teaching across fall and spring semesters, with willingness to teach overload in summer preferred. Salary ranges from $80,000 to $115,000 based on experience.

- Order textbooks and materials prior to class.
- Prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
- Present instruction based on course competencies and performance levels.
- Meet all designated class periods.
- Submit grades according to College of Law and University regulations.
- Grade student assignments and exams promptly.
- Submit departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Build a positive rapport with students and faculty.
