Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two‑year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four‑year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. We also offer certificate programs that can generally be completed in one year.

The Nursing Department invites applications to teach in OCC's Nursing Workforce programs including Certified Nurses Aide and Home Health Aide. Major responsibilities include teaching clinical instruction and evaluation, lab instruction and evaluation; student mentoring and ensuring strengthening of knowledge, skills and competencies. The successful candidate will:
- Use appropriate technology to deliver and enhance learning.
- Be innovative in the presentation of hands‑on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes.
- Assess learning outcomes and provide timely feedback.
- Be responsive to student questions and available for student support.
- Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
- Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.
Minimum Qualifications
- Workforce position in program (CNA or HHA):
- Current NYS RN registration and CPR certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.
Rate of pay is $45.00/hour. This position is not eligible for benefits. This position will begin June 1, 2026.

- Certification to teach Nurse Aide or Practical Nursing
- One year of experience teaching nurse aides in a residential health care facility
- One year of experience teaching nursing or nursing related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the Commissioner of Education
- Completion of the State approved professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners
- Documentation is attached that verifies one year of experience caring for the elderly and/or chronically ill.
- The three (3) references listed on the application must be professional references, two of which must be current or former supervisors. Finalists will be contacted prior to reference checking.
- Offers are contingent on the completion of a post‑offer background check, and official transcripts are required upon hire.
