We are a SUNY Childcare Center located on the beautiful campus of Onondaga Community College, and one of a select few in the area that is nationally accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
The Children's Learning Center provides high quality childcare for our Onondaga Community College student-parents, staff, faculty, and surrounding community members. Our childcare team shares a passion and enthusiasm for educating young children. We are proud to mentor and provide a learning experience for our college student-interns who are placed in our classrooms for field work during their educational courses in Early Childhood Education.

Job DescriptionThe goal of the Children's Learning Center is to nurture, educate, and promote children's learning through play with hands on experiences in creative arts, dramatic play, sensory play, large motor play and fine motor development. We provide our children with a nature-based playground and enjoy walks through the beautiful campus as well as participation in college events when appropriate for the children of the Center.
We serve the following age groups:
- Toddlers: 18 months - 3 years
- Preschool: 3 years - 5 years
Each age level works in a five-teacher team that works cooperatively to support one another while guiding and teaching the children. Each teacher is given two hours per week release time for lesson planning, child assessments and training.
Co-Teacher Responsibilities- Maintaining attendance logs, health care checks, meal count logs, incident reports and general classroom logs, and safety assessments
- Weekly/biweekly cooperative lesson planning
- Positive behavior guidance/redirection
- Positive age-appropriate interactions with children

RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
For consideration, one of the following criteria must be met:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential; or
- 12 completed college credits in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education; or 36 completed college credits in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Prior experience working in a childcare setting is a plus!
- Bilingual in English and another language.
This is a non-exempt position. Pay rate will be $18/hr.
- $25/hr., based on education and experience.
