Job Description
The School of Architecture seeks a part-time instructor to teach a 6-credit hour architecture design studio in the Fall of 2026 semester.
This location is Fisher Center, Syracuse University’s consolidated academic campus at 136 Madison Ave, New York, NY. The expected salary range for this position in New York City is $27,000- $30,000 for this 6-credit hour course. Employment offers are based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, the job responsibilities; the candidate’s education, training, work experience and key competencies;
the university’s strategic priorities; internal peer equity; applicable federal, state, local laws, grant funding and contractual requisites; and external market analyses.
- A professional degree in Architecture is required, as well as an advanced degree in Architecture or a closely related design field.
- The school is particularly interested in candidates with teaching experience in an accredited professional architecture program.
- Candidates with strong intellectual and artistic direction are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates must possess professional design experience and demonstrate a record of recognized research which may include built work, scholarship, publications, or exhibits.
Those of a faculty member with a teaching load of 6 credit hours per semester, including:
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
- Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meeting all designated class periods.
- Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
