The School of Architecture seeks a part-time instructor to teach a 3-credit course on professional practice during the Fall (M/W, 2:15-3:35p; 3:45-5:05) and Spring (TBD) semesters. The course is a requirement for undergraduate and graduate students in their final year.
The expected salary range for this position is $7,500 - $9,000 for this 3-credit hour course. Employment offers at Syracuse University are based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, the job responsibilities; the candidate's education, training, work experience and key competencies; the university's strategic priorities; internal peer equity; applicable federal, state, local laws, grant funding and contractual requisites;
and external market analyses.
This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200
United.
Qualifications
* Candidates must have extensive professional architectural design practice experience and a record of recognized built work.
* Candidates with strong intellectual and creative direction, in pursuit of innovative and progressive models of professional practice are encouraged to apply.
* Candidates must be prepared to teach required content such as firm legal structure, business development, branding and identity, financial management, fee structure, contracts, project management and delivery, ethics, etc.
* The School is particularly interested in candidates with teaching experience in an accredited professional architecture degree program.
* The School is committed to supporting diversity in its student population, faculty, and curriculum.

Responsibilities
Those of a part-time faculty member with a teaching load of 3-credits including:
* Developing a syllabus for ARC 585 that incorporates topics including, but not limited to, architect-client relations, legal and financial aspects of practice, business planning and ethics, project delivery and contracts, professional services, etc.
* Preparation of lectures, projects, or other assignments
* Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours
* Meeting all designated class periods
* Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course
* Submitting final grades according to university regulations
* Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner
* Building a positive rapport with students
