Job Description
Teach one course of ENG 303 Writing Fiction for 3 credit hours in the Spring 2026 semester in‑person on the SU campus. Start date for this position is 1/05/2026, with first day of class being 1/12/2026. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per‑credit rate within the hiring department. All course offerings are subject to funding availability and enrollment.
Current internal applicants will receive priority consideration.
- MFA in Creative Writing required, with prior teaching experience.
- Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
- Order the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
- Prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
- Provide instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
- Meet all designated class periods; if unable to meet due to illness or emergency, attempt to reschedule or obtain a substitute, and notify the department chair or designated contact of absence and coverage plan.
- Work with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
- Submit completed final grades according to University regulations.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
- Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Complete all other course‑related duties as outlined by your department’s policies for part‑time instructors.

Pay Range$1,440 to $1,800 per credit.
HoursCourse is taught Tu Th 9:30‑10:50 am. Additional time as determined by department/chair. Office hours required.
