Certified Preschool Teacher

Position Summary

Pre‑School Teacher (UPK) – Full Time – Pay $22.00‑26.00/hr – $1,500 licensed teacher supplement – Exceptional benefits.

• Develop, implement, facilitate, monitor, and evaluate a comprehensive Early Childhood Partnership program with children in classrooms.
• Plan and implement curriculum that addresses individual and group needs using the Early Childhood Partnership program curriculum.
• Support, supervise, role model, and encourage the professional development of child care staff and volunteers through team meetings, shared program planning, and daily interactions.
• Monitor and maintain the classroom environment, including attendance, cleanliness, minor repairs, health and safety issues, inventory, and ensuring supplies are stocked and equipped.
• Assess and monitor the developmental level of each child, conduct program assessments, and facilitate referrals for evaluations as needed.
• Ensure completion of all paperwork on time, including attendance, meal counts, lesson plans, daily health checks, fire drill records, narratives, and daily notes.
• Assist in orientation and training of staff regarding room, center, and agency policies, procedures, and expectations.
• Participate in meetings such as initial orientations, supervision, team meetings, staff meetings, in‑services, and training sessions with Syracuse City School District and partnership programs.
• Engage in ongoing teacher/parent communication to facilitate parent participation and involvement.
• Demonstrate cultural competence, integrating understanding into daily responsibilities and meeting the objectives of the Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Strategic Plan.

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education is required.

Must have an active NYS Teacher Certification, eligible for the $1,500 licensed teacher supplement.

Minimum one year of experience working with children ages 3 to 5 years old.

Must meet NYS/Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulatory requirements.

Must meet health standards for OCFS licensing, be able to lift up to 40 pounds, and participate in all developmentally appropriate activities.
