Strings and Orchestra Teacher:
Long Term Substitute

Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) seeks an experienced and passionate Strings and Orchestra Teacher to join our faculty from October 2026 to February 2027.

This temporary, full-time, long-term substitute position offers compensation of $23,500 - $24,500 for the term. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in a field that aligns with the program description is preferred. Job Responsibilities
  • Instruction:
    Teach Lower School (Grades 1-5) Strings Lessons and Orchestra, Middle School Orchestra (Grades 6-8), and Upper School Concert Orchestra (Grades 9-12).
  • Advising:
    Act as an advisor to a small group of Upper School students to oversee and support their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Curriculum Facilitation:
    Utilize an appropriate curriculum to guide and develop strings curriculum implementation tailored to students’ strengths and needs.
  • Extracurricular

    Activities:

    Preparing and chaperoning students to local and state music festivals, including some evenings and weekends, and leading students in seasonal evening performances on campus.
  • Community Engagement:
    Collaborate with students, families, and colleagues to promote and sustain a robust strings and orchestral program.
Requirements
  • Education:

    A bachelor’s degree in music, music education, or a related field is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
  • Experience:

    A minimum of two years working with a diverse range of students in a school setting is preferred; independent school experience is highly desirable.
  • Skills:

    Adept with technology including Outlook email and Google Suite.
