Job DescriptionThe Department of Drama within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach DRA 300 Swing Dance, a one-credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026. This introductory Swing Dance course is for Musical Theatre majors and focuses on progressive studio study of fundamental technique and theory of swing dance in a theatrical context, including basic partnering, foundational footwork, rhythm and musicality, and introductory swing combinations.
Qualifications- 5+ years teaching dance at the college or professional level.
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
- Teach class once per week for 90 minutes. Create or adapt a current syllabus.
- Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
- Prepare lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
- Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meet all designated class periods.
- If unable to meet class due to illness or emergency, reschedule or obtain a substitute and notify department chair.
- Submit completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
- Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Build a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
