Postdoctoral Scholar – Optimization and Imaging
The Mathematics Department at Syracuse University invites applications for a one-year, subject to renewal, Postdoctoral Scholar position beginning between July 1, 2026, and August 16, 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to a research program focused on mathematical imaging, nonlinear optimization, and neural networks.
Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Demonstrated potential for excellence in both research and teaching. Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests overlap with or complement the work of Professor Lixin Shen's research group, particularly in the areas of optimization and imaging sciences.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to:
Conduct high-level research in the designated areas of study. Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. Co-mentor graduate and undergraduate student researchers. Actively contribute to the intellectual life and seminar culture of the department.
