Job DescriptionThe Department of Drama within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach DRA 100 Foundations of Performance for Non-Majors, a three-credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026. There are two sections available.
This course introduces students to the Actor’s Instrument and imagination and applies that foundational awareness to at least two different acting techniques for stage and screen. It will explore the actor’s role in collaboration for stage and film and end with an introduction to scene study.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years teaching acting at the college level.
- Advanced or terminal degree (or equivalent professional experience) desirable.
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
- Expertise in a diverse range of voices in contemporary and historical theater.
Teaching class once per week for 2 hours and 50 minutes (M002 & M003). Create a syllabus in collaboration with the Program Coordinator to ensure educational outcomes meet learning objectives.
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Submitting completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
