The Department of Drama within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part‑Time Instructor to teach DRA 115 Drama in Context I, a three‑credit hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026. The course surveys world drama in its earliest established forms (ancient, medieval, classical) and the impact of these periods on the contemporary dramatic landscape. Basic dramatic analysis principles will be developed using an inclusive range of introductory‑level texts.

Qualifications
  • Advanced or terminal degree (or equivalent professional experience) desirable.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
  • Expertise in a diverse range of voices in contemporary and historical theater.
Responsibilities
  • Teaching twice per week for 80 minutes.
  • Developing and/or updating the class syllabus.
  • Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meeting all designated class periods.
  • Rescheduling classes or obtaining a substitute if unable to meet due to illness or emergency; notifying the department chair of absence and plan to cover the class.
  • Submitting completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
