Advanced Forensic Science (Fall 2026)
The College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University seeks a Part-time Instructor to co-teach FSC
606 – Advanced Forensic Science in Fall 2025 (8/25/2025). Selected areas of current interest in forensic science presented. The application of scientific methods and techniques to crime detection and the law. This course is 3 credits and meets in-person on the SU campus.
Knowledge and experience with courtroom terminology and legal concepts, courtroom procedures and demeanor, court and jurisdictional differences, rules of evidence, admissibility standards. Relevant law related to pretrial discovery including responsibilities of attorneys and experts, and ethical obligations of expert witnesses. Preferred:
Experience as a prosecutor or defense attorney in criminal trials.
Responsibilities include developing and/or updating a class syllabus, ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date, preparing lectures, projects or other student assignments, maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week, presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class, meeting all designated class periods, working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes, submitting completed final grades according to University regulations, grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner, providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations, and completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your department's policies for part-time instructors.
