Assistant Teaching Professor - Calculus

The Department of Mathematics at Syracuse University invites applications for a non-tenure-track full-time teaching position with administrative responsibilities. The start date is August, 2026 and the initial appointment can be up to three years. The position includes teaching six courses per year and administering the calculus sequence. This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by a union, SEIU Local 200 United.

A Ph.D. in mathematics or closely related field is required. Candidates should have a strong track record in teaching mathematics to undergraduates. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. The department seeks candidates who can contribute to a collaborative academic environment and support student success.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Calculus, mentoring and advising students at various levels, participating in departmental and university service activities, engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration, and acting as the Course Supervisor for the calculus sequence courses.
