Job Description

To prepare our students for the rigorous academic future, STEP has adopted a holistic approach to learning by emphasizing hands‑on activities with real‑life implications. The Saturday Learning Academy parallels and reinforces conventional coursework. Students learn about computers, math, science, and language arts, go on field trips, prepare for ACT/SAT, and participate in specially designed workshops and programs. The Academy meets on Saturdays between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm on the Syracuse University campus.

Class sessions range from 60‑75 minutes, and tutorial sessions occur via Zoom weekly for 60 minutes.

Education and Experience
  • Enrolled in a Master’s Degree program or possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience working with middle and high school students.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications and Zoom/Teams.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience working with middle and high school students.
  • Complete minor training and consent to a background check.
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement hands‑on math, science, and English activities for students—lesson plans that parallel New York State Education Department Learning Standards.
  • Possess classroom‑management skills.
  • Develop and design innovative and creative activities that have real‑life implications.
