FLSA Status: Exempt
Hours: Per time schedule of classes or as determined by department chair. Office hours required.

Job DescriptionDepartment of Counseling & Human Services is looking for part‑time faculty to teach COU 790 Counseling Internship – School Counseling for the Fall semester 2026 (3 credits). The course is a clinical supervisory experience where students intern in a K‑12 school setting and assume the varied roles of a professional counselor. The internship provides acquisition and application of skills and core dispositions necessary for translating content knowledge into effective counseling practice.
The instructor encourages analytical and evaluative skills in integrating content knowledge and clinical practice.
- A doctorate (or ABD) in counselor education is required.
- Certification as a New York State School Counselor is preferred.
- Experience as a school counselor and demonstrated effective teaching and supervisory practices that can be applied to a clinical internship course.
- Meet weekly with students for class (group supervision).
- Develop and execute lesson plans.
- Provide feedback on students’ counseling recordings.
- Provide feedback on student process notes.
- Provide formative and summative feedback to students.
- Complete written evaluations.
- Communicate with site supervisors and program coordinators as necessary.
