The School of Art within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part‑Time Instructor to teach ARI 475/676 Book Arts, a three‑credit‑hour course, during the Fall semester 2026.
Exploration of the artist book as a method for creative expression. Students learn beginning and intermediate level binding methods with the goal of creating limited edition books that contain personally‑created written and visual content. Additional work for graduate students.
Qualifications- MFA or equivalent.
- Experience teaching a variety of binding techniques.
This is a 14‑week, 3‑credit class that meets once per week. It requires 6+ hours per week outside preparation for a total of 10 hours per week.
- Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
- Prepare lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
- Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meet all designated class periods. If unable to attend due to illness or emergency, reschedule or obtain a substitute; notify the department chair of absence and plan to cover the class.
- Submit completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
- Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Build a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
- Some lifting associated with printing processes.
