Job Description:
The School of Art within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part‑Time Instructor to teach AIC 340/640 Visiting Artist Lecture Series, a one‑credit‑hour course, during the Fall semester, 2026, and the Spring semester, 2027.
Contemporary artists and art educators with significant national and international exhibition and publishing records will discuss their work and its development, including art‑historical and other inter‑disciplinary connections. Graduate students will also be required to assist.
Qualifications- MFA in art or a related field. At least 1 year of teaching experience at the college level.
- Must be able to operate standard computer and projection systems.
- Strong collaboration skills.
- Ability to assess written student work.
- Highly organized with reliable time management.
- Coordinate with School of Art faculty to schedule visiting artists for each session in the fall and spring calendars.
- Communicate with visiting artists about required paperwork and class details.
- Promote visiting artists via email and social media.
- Facilitate interactions between visiting artists and students, and occasionally arrange studio visits.
- Assign and grade written student work and attendance.
- Collaborate with the first‑year faculty member teaching AIC 101 for students who attend the visiting artist lectures.
- Develop and/or update class syllabus.
- Prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
- Deliver instruction aligned with course competencies and performance levels.
- Replace or reschedule classes when reasonably possible due to illness or emergency and notify department chair.
- Submit mid‑semester progress reports and final grades per university regulations.
- Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Build positive rapport with students and colleagues.
