Part-Time Faculty: HOA 445 Baroque Art in Southern Europe (Fall 2026)
The College of Arts & Sciences at Syracuse University seeks a Part-Time Faculty to teach HOA
445 – Baroque Art in Southern Europe (3 Credits) for the Department of Art & Music Histories during the Fall 2026 semester. This class focuses on painting and sculptures in Italy and Spain during the 17th century;
Caravaggio, the Carracci, Bernini, Poussin, Lorrain, and Velázquez. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department. This position is subject to funding availability and enrollment.
Ph.D. or ABDin Art History or a related field.
Part-time Instructor duties will include the following: developing and/or updating a class syllabus; ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date; preparing lectures, projects or other student assignments; maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week; presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class; meeting all designated class periods; working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes;
submitting completed final grades according to University regulations; grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner; providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations; completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your department's policies for part-time instructors.
