The College of Law is seeking a part-time instructor to teach one or more sections of the following:
Legal Foundations:
This is the first residential course in the online JD program. It is a two-credit course designed to prepare students to study law. The course will introduce students to the American legal system, build a foundational understanding of the basic framework of legal and lawmaking institutions, and help prepare them to succeed in their legal studies. Legal Communications and Research courses:
These courses introduce our first-year students to the fundamentals of legal research, writing, and advocacy.
Candidates should have an excellent academic record and should hold a JD degree from an accredited law school. Preferred post-JD experience and credentials should include significant legal practice in diverse areas of law. A demonstrated commitment to excellent classroom teaching is required. Prior law school teaching is strongly preferred. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and community members from different backgrounds.
Responsibilities include ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date, preparing lectures, projects and other student assignments, maintaining regularly scheduled office hours, presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course, meeting all designated class periods, submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to the College of Law and University regulations, grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner, and providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume/curriculum vitae, cover letter, reference list, and a writing sample.
