Spanish 301 Approaches to Reading Texts (Fall 2026)

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics is seeking part-time instructor(s) to teach 3-credit section(s) of SPA
301 (Approaches to Reading Texts) in the fall 2026 semester, which begins on August 24, 2026 (appointment begins on August 17, 2026). SPA
301 (Approaches to Reading Texts); 3 credits Introduction to reading and analyzing texts written in Spanish. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department. All positions and offers are subject to funding availability and enrollment.

Master's degree required; native or near-native fluency required. Experience in university-level teaching preferred.

Responsibilities include developing and/or updating a class syllabus, ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date, preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments, maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week, presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class, meeting all designated class periods, working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes, submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations, grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner, providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations, completing all other course related duties as outlined by your department's policies for part-time instructors, and building a positive rapport with the students and faculty.

Pay range is $1,483 to $1,800 per credit. Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months' salary unless otherwise specified.

This position is exempt and part-time.
