Topics in Sociolinguistics Fall 2026
The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University is seeking a Part-time Instructor to teach one 3-credit section of LIN
374/674 in the fall 2026 semester, which begins on August 24, 2026 (appointment begins on August 17, 2026). LIN
374/674 – Topics in Sociolinguistics Functions of language in society. Geographical, socioeconomic, and male-female differentiation. Functions of various types of speech events.
Ph.D. in Linguistics or related field required. Experience in university-level teaching preferred.
Responsibilities include developing and/or updating a class syllabus, ordering books and materials, preparing lectures, maintaining office hours, presenting instruction, meeting class periods, submitting reports and grades, and building rapport with students and faculty.
