The Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure‑track faculty position in Chemistry, beginning Fall 2026.
This campus‑based appointment requires teaching face‑to‑face courses and supporting instruction, laboratory activities, student advising, and departmental responsibilities. While the department offers limited online or hybrid courses, these are part of the overall instructional portfolio and do not constitute a remote appointment.
The primary focus of this position is instruction in General Chemistry I and II (lecture and laboratory) and introductory chemistry courses for health and allied health students.
Teaching Responsibilities- Teach General Chemistry I and II (lecture and laboratory)
- Teach introductory chemistry courses for health professions and non‑majors
- Teach additional chemistry courses as departmental needs require
- Maintain rigorous laboratory instruction consistent with transfer‑level expectations and pre‑professional standards
- Support strong General Chemistry preparation for STEM and Engineering Science students
- Provide clear and structured instruction for allied health and pre‑professional students
- Maintain high laboratory standards emphasizing safe and accurate experimental practice
- Contribute to stable enrollment and consistent course sequencing
- Teach face‑to‑face Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses
- Maintain regular on‑campus availability for student support and advising
- Provide academic advising to support persistence and timely degree completion
- Develop and revise curriculum aligned with program and institutional learning outcomes
- Assess student learning and participate in outcomes‑based assessment activities
- Ensure safe laboratory practices and proper use of chemical and analytical equipment
- Use appropriate instructional technology to enhance learning
- Obtain Quality Matters certification within a reasonable timeframe if teaching online or hybrid courses
- Provide timely feedback on student work and submit required academic materials by established deadlines
- Participate in departmental, school, and college service activities
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- OR Master's degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Chemistry from an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching General Chemistry I and II
- Experience teaching introductory chemistry for health or non‑majors students
- Experience teaching laboratory courses
- Experience teaching in a community college or open‑access institution
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining academic standards in science coursework
- Bilingual in English and Spanish;
English and other languages considered acceptable
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
- Ability to teach chemistry using structured and applied approaches
- Demonstrated laboratory competency
- Commitment to collaborative departmental work
- Salary for Assistant Professor level is $61,466.
