Pay Range: $1,483.20 – $1,596.50 per credit hour
Job DescriptionThe S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University seeks an individual to teach SMC 500 Performance for Sports Media. The course focuses on critical voice and on‑camera performance skills, emphasizing the development of an authoritative and conversational delivery for sports reporting on set, in packages, interviews, and live in remote locations. Students will strengthen their oral and written foundations, engage in exercises to achieve a relaxed, natural, conversational, and professional‑sounding delivery, and develop sports broadcast copy analysis skills to adapt to various script styles and formats.
Qualifications- Experience in on‑air performance, media, and/or reporting preferred.
- Develop a syllabus.
- Order books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes.
- Prepare for classes.
- Hold office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
- Grade student assignments and examinations in a timely manner, and submit mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Ability to instruct the class on the days and times it meets.
- Ability to hold office hours on campus.
- Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.
- Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
