Position: Part-Time Faculty: HFS 255 Interpersonal Competence (Spring 2026)
Location: City of Syracuse

Job Description

Human Development and Family Science is seeking a part‑time instructor to teach HFS 255 (3 credits) Interpersonal Competence during the Spring 2026 semester.

Course Description

Interpersonal problem‑solving skills. Applying theories appropriate to human development settings. Skills and behaviors that apply theory to practice settings.

Compensation

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per‑credit‑rate history within the hiring department.

Funding

All course offerings are subject to funding availability and enrollment.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree or PhD.
  • Previous teaching experience.
Responsibilities
  • Developing and updating a class syllabus.
  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class.
  • Preparing lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies, performance levels, and class objectives.
  • Meeting all designated class periods and arranging substitution or rescheduling in case of illness or emergency; notifying the department chair or designated contact.
  • Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
  • Submitting completed final grades according to university regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Completing all other course‑related duties as outlined by department policies for part‑time instructors.
