Overview

The Student Success and Retention Specialist coordinates student support and retention initiatives, with a focus on basic needs programming and student engagement. The role combines direct student support, program coordination, and operational responsibilities. It requires skills in communications, marketing, and web content management to promote services and engage students. This position is in-person and schedules vary based on program and operational needs, with some evening hours.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate student support and retention initiatives with emphasis on basic needs programming and student engagement.
  • Provide front-line administrative and operational support to ensure continuity of services.
  • Promote services through communications, marketing, and web content management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Higher Education, Communications, or a related field;
    One (1) year of relevant experience in student services, higher education, or a related setting.
  • Experience working with students from underserved populations, including those facing basic needs or other challenges.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills;
    Effective written and verbal communication skills;
    Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience coordinating programs or events.
  • Experience with website management, digital communications, or marketing.
  • Familiarity with student support programs or grant-funded initiatives.
Work Schedule

Varied based on programs and operational needs; typical hours fall between 8:30 AM and 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.
