Position: Part-Time Faculty: COU 614 - Group Work in Counseling (Fall 2026)
Location: City of Syracuse

COU 614 Group Work in Counseling (3 credits)

The Department of Counseling & Human Services seeks a part-time Instructor to teach lessons for the fall semester 2026. The course covers principles of group dynamics, group developmental stage theory, leadership styles, and group leadership methods, with a focus on the integration of practice and theory in multiple group contexts. Students will participate in a within‑class group experience.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. and clinical experience leading groups required.
  • College‑level teaching experience highly desirable.
Responsibilities
  • Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Preparing lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meeting all designated class periods; if unable to, reschedule or obtain a substitute and notify the department chair.
  • Submitting completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Participating in departmental meetings or workshops.
  • Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
