Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. We also offer certificate programs that can generally be completed in one year.

BROAD FUNCTION
As a vital member of the Admissions Team, the Admissions Coordinator/Case Manager serves as an ambassador for Onondaga Community College, representing the institution at both on and off campus recruitment initiatives. This position will develop valuable relationships with prospective students, families, secondary school counselors, community partners and key stakeholders to advance strategic enrollment goals.
This role strategically combines admissions recruitment with comprehensive case management support, implementing proactive engagement strategies tailored to serving student parents and other special populations by connecting students to resources that address non-academic barriers to enrollment and persistence. The Admissions Coordinator/Case Manager proactively identifies, engages, and supports prospective students, navigating them throughout the enrollment process, while also addressing external challenges such as childcare, transportation, housing, food insecurity, financial instability, and healthcare access, utilizing on-campus and community resources.
Serving as the central point of contact, this position establishes a seamless, supportive pathway from recruitment to matriculation. By addressing non-academic obstacles, they drive higher enrollment yield and ensure long-term student success.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategically and independently develop and execute comprehensive recruitment initiatives across an assigned territory, cultivating partnerships with community-based organizations, workforce partners, and targeting special populations throughout Central New York and the State.
- Guide prospective students through the full enrollment process, including application completion, pathway planning and next steps, to seamlessly transition into credit or non-credit Workforce Development programs.
- Plan, execute, and represent the college at high-impact admissions events, including application days, workshops, open houses, career days, college fairs, community events, campus visits, presentations, and tours, serving as a key liaison
- Deliver comprehensive, student-centered case management support during the admissions process, with particular emphasis on student parents and students facing non-academic barriers, supporting persistence from initial inquiry to enrollment.
- Proactively identify and address student barriers to success by developing personalized support plans that connect students to childcare, housing, food security, transportation, legal services, financial counseling, healthcare access, and other community resources.
- Cultivate and maintain strong strategic relationships with prospective students, families, schools, community agencies, and organizations that serve student parents and underserved populations.
- Serve as a primary liaison between the college and community partners to strengthen access, create targeted enrollment pathways, and streamline wraparound support services.
- Leverage CRM software (Slate) to optimize communication workflows, document student interactions and referrals, track caseload activity, and maintain accurate records.
- Track, analyze, and report on recruitment metrics to the Admissions Leadership Team, utilizing data-driven insights to create outreach strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with campus departments to coordinate comprehensive student support, upholding strict confidentiality and professional discretion.
- Continuously evaluate, apply, and integrate emerging trends and best practices in community college admissions, workforce development initiatives, and student engagement strategies.
- Develop and implement innovative ideas and strategies to expand outreach, significantly enhancing support services for student parents and other special populations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, college or foreign equivalency.
- Two (2) years of experience in student services, case management, social work, academic advising, or community outreach.
