The Setnor School of Music within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach Piano Class I for Music Theater Majors, a one credit course, during the Fall & Spring semesters, 2026-27. Fundamentals of piano instruction for Department of Drama Musical Theater majors.

A minimum of a Master of Music (preferred), or demonstrable equivalent professional experience. Demonstrated successful college level teaching experience is strongly preferred. Experience teaching a class such as this to a similar cohort of students is strongly preferred.

The candidate should have strong attention to detail, knowledge of course content, demonstrated pedagogical ability, as well as the ability to relate well in a classroom and one-on-one environment with college-level students. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to fulfill multiple positions within the Setnor School of Music.

Being present and instructing weekly class meetings during Fall and Spring semesters as indicated:
Mondays/Wednesday 2:15 PM – 3:10 PM. Develop and/or update a class syllabus. Prepare lectures, projects, or other student assignments. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours. Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course. Meet all designated class periods. Submit completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to university regulations. Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.

Build a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
