Spanish 301 Approaches to Reading Texts (Fall 2026)
Position:
Part‑time instructor(s) to teach a 3‑credit section of SPA 301 (Approaches to Reading Texts) beginning August 24, 2026 (appointment starts August 17, 2026).
Location:
Syracuse University, On‑Campus (regular in‑person presence required).
Pay Range: $1,483 to $1,800 per credit.
FLSA Status:
Exempt.
Hours:
As determined by department/chair. Office hours required.
Job Type: Part‑time.
Rank: PTI/Adjunct.
Qualifications- Master’s degree required.
- Native or near‑native Spanish fluency required.
- Experience in university‑level teaching preferred.
- Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
- Order appropriate books and materials prior to class start.
- Prepare lectures, projects, or other student assignments.
- Maintain two hours of regularly scheduled office hours per week.
- Present instruction based on class competencies and performance levels.
- Meet all designated class periods; if unable to teach, reschedule or obtain a substitute and notify the department chair.
- Work with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
- Submit completed mid‑semester progress reports and final grades according to university regulations.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
- Provide department‑sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Complete all other course‑related duties as outlined by departmental policies for part‑time instructors.
- Build a positive rapport with students and faculty.
