Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. We also offer certificate programs that can generally be completed in one year.

Student Ambassadors are part of Admissions who represent OCC at campus events.

The main role of Student Ambassadors is to conduct campus tours for prospective students, family and community members.

They also assist the Admissions Office by participating in student panels, meeting with visitors to provide a student perspective, and networking to help the community understand all that OCC has to offer. Additionally, Ambassadors work in the office to assist with event preparation, office tasks, and assisting the Admissions Staff with various projects.

Students sign up for shifts when they are available, and schedules are flexible to accommodate classes and schoolwork.

Shifts are typically one to three hours in length with Open Houses being a full day (once a semester).

• Must have a financial need, as demonstrated by the FAFSA
• Must be matriculated into a program
• Attending at least half-time (6 credit hours)
• Maintain satisfactory progress (SAP) towards the completion of their program
• Professional, approachable, and friendly demeanor
• Availability to attend training sessions and scheduled events
• Willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed for special programs
• Availability for Fall and Spring Open House

• Pay Rate: Starting rate of $16.00 for new Federal Work Studies.

Starting rate of $17.00 for returning Federal Work Studies

Federal Work Study may work up to 20 hours per week
