Native/Indigenous Admissions Specialist

This is a Federal Work Study (FWS) position. The Native/Indigenous Admissions Specialist will support the Office of Admissions in promoting Onondaga Community College to prospective Native/Indigenous students and families. The role is ideal for a student who is passionate about higher education, enjoys engaging with people, and wants hands-on experience and recruitment processes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning campus tours, open houses, Center for Native/Indigenous Students Tours, OCC Haudenosaunee Arts Fest and other recruitment events.
  • Serve as a tour guide and along with Native/Indigenous Admissions Coordinator provide campus tours to prospective Native/Indigenous Students and families.
  • Assist in responding to prospective student inquiries via email, phone and in person.
  • Support data entry filing, and other administrative tasks related to prospective student records.
  • Help prepare admission materials such as packets, brochures and mailings.
  • Contribute to social media and digital outreach methods.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid FAFSA on file.
  • Must have a financial need, as demonstrated by the FAFSA.
  • Must be matriculated into a program attending at least half-time (6 credit hours).
  • Maintain satisfactory progress (SAP) towards the completion of their program.

Additional Information:

Pay Rate:
Starting rate of $16.00 for new Federal Work Studies. Starting rate of $17.00 for returning Federal Work Studies.

Hours of Operations:
Monday-Friday 8:30am- 4:30pm.

Federal Work Study may work up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session. Additional hours may be worked during college breaks.
