Job Description & How to Apply Below
The US Expansion Construction team is responsible for the design and construction of high-tech, large-scale projects for Micron in the US. Current projects include two high-volume manufacturing facilities in Boise, Idaho (ID1 and ID2) and a greenfield facility in Clay, New York. As the NY Waste Treatment Operations Engineer, you will oversee the design, construction, and commissioning of waste treatment systems for cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing facilities.
This role requires deep technical expertise in waste treatment processes, strong project management skills, and effective collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
- Oversee third-party design firms in the development of waste treatment systems, including chemical neutralization, wastewater treatment, and solid waste handling for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Review and validate third-party design deliverables, such as P&IDs, equipment specifications, and system layouts, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards (EPA, RCRA, Clean Water Act).
- Conduct technical evaluations of third-party designs, verifying performance metrics such as treatment efficiency, chemical compatibility, discharge compliance, and system safety.
- Collaborate with external design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to align waste treatment system designs with facility requirements and project timelines.
- Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third-party designs, identifying and resolving issues related to regulatory compliance, constructability, or environmental impact.
- Ensure third-party designs integrate seamlessly with other facility systems such as chemical delivery or Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) systems, using BIM tools for coordination.
- Collaborate with third-party quality teams to ensure construction meets final requirements needed for operations.
- Oversee commissioning and testing phases by reviewing third-party design performance and coordinating with vendors for equipment validation and system startup.
- Utilize BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) and control systems (PLC, SCADA) to verify design interoperability and ensure operational efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance to third-party designers, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and advancements in wet mechanical system technologies.
- Monitor project progress, manage design-related risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality design deliverables.
- May require occasional travel to project sites, vendor facilities, or third-party design offices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple design deliverables and deadlines.
- Relocation to the project location is required. Position is 100% on-site, no hybrid.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications (PE, Hazardous Waste Operations Certification) are a plus.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in waste treatment engineering, with at least 2 years overseeing third-party design or managing design processes for wastewater, chemical, or solid waste treatment systems.
- Strong knowledge of waste treatment system design, including chemical neutralization, biological treatment, filtration, and hazardous waste disposal for industrial applications.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as EPA’s RCRA, Clean Water Act, SEMI S2, and local environmental codes.
- Proficiency in reviewing engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, 3D models, and specifications, using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks.
- Excellent project management and communication skills to coordinate with external design firms, vendors, and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and quality in third-party designs.
- Experience with control systems (PLC, SCADA) and BIM workflows for design coordination is highly desirable.
- Experience overseeing third-party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities with stringent wet mechanical system requirements.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices such…
