Our client, a global technology-driven manufacturer, is seeking a Commodity Manager to support a growing and highly collaborative procurement organization focused on highly engineered, precision products and customized manufacturing solutions. This role will lead sourcing strategy and supplier management across a complex electronics and contract manufacturing portfolio. The position offers strong cross‑functional exposure and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on supplier performance, cost optimization, supply continuity, and long‑term sourcing strategy. Commodity areas include:

  • PCBAs (printed circuit board assemblies)
  • Electronic components (active and passive)
  • Sensors and specialty electronic modules
  • Cable assemblies and connectors
  • Power supplies
  • Contract electronics manufacturing (CEM/EMS) services
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute sourcing and commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead supplier selection, RFQ/RFP processes, negotiations, and contract management activities.
  • Build strong supplier partnerships focused on quality, delivery, innovation, and cost competitiveness.
  • Manage electronics and contract manufacturing suppliers across cost, quality, delivery, and capacity performance metrics.
  • Identify and implement cost savings, supply chain optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support supplier qualification, audits, corrective actions, and ongoing supplier development activities.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Planning teams on new product introductions, component selection, design changes, and obsolescence management.
  • Support supply continuity planning for long‑lead and allocation‑sensitive electronic components.
  • Maintain procurement and supplier data within ERP systems and support reporting and analytics activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Electronics, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 6+ years of strategic sourcing, commodity management, or category management experience.
  • Experience sourcing electronic components, PCBAs, or contract manufacturing services preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electronics supply chains, manufacturing processes, and component sourcing.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships in technically complex or highly engineered environments.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and supplier management skills.
  • ERP system experience required; SAP experience preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in electronics, industrial technology, instrumentation, medical device, or other precision manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with contract electronics manufacturing (CEM/EMS) operations and supplier qualification processes.
  • Understanding of electronic component market trends, lead time management, and obsolescence planning.
  • Experience with supplier quality standards, first article inspections, PPAP, or corrective action processes.
  • Experience with spend analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, CSCP, CPIM, IPC, CQE, or Lean Six Sigma are a plus.
