About the Role
The US Expansion Construction team is responsible for the design and construction of high‑tech manufacturing facilities. As the NY Chemical Systems Operations Engineer, you will oversee the design, construction, and commissioning of process chemical systems for cutting‑edge semiconductor manufacturing sites. This role requires deep technical expertise in chemical delivery systems and strong project‑management skills.
Responsibilities- Oversee third‑party design firms in developing process chemical systems including bulk chemicals, VMB/VMP layouts, and point‑of‑use delivery.
- Review and validate third‑party design deliverables such as P&IDs, equipment specifications, and system layouts, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards (e.g., SEMI S2, ASME B31.3).
- Conduct technical evaluations of gas system designs to verify flow capacity, pressure control, material compatibility, and leak integrity.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, construction teams, and vendors to integrate gas systems with other facility utilities.
- Collaborate with external design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to align chemical system designs with facility requirements and project timelines.
- Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third‑party designs, identifying and resolving constructability, safety, or compliance issues.
- Support construction by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and participating in field coordination and inspections.
- Oversee commissioning and testing phases by reviewing third‑party design performance and coordinating with vendors for equipment validation and system startup.
- Implement safety protocols for hazardous chemicals, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, CGA guidelines, and local regulations.
- Monitor system health using diagnostic tools and performance data to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Utilize BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) to verify design interoperability and ensure operational efficiency.
- Monitor project progress, manage design‑related risks, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality design deliverables.
- Occasional travel to project sites, vendor facilities, or third‑party design offices may be required.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in chemical engineering, with at least 2 years overseeing third‑party design or managing chemical system projects in industrial or semiconductor environments.
- Strong knowledge of chemical delivery system design and familiarity with industry standards such as SEMI S2/S6, ASME BPE, and CGA guidelines for gas handling.
- Proficiency in reviewing engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, 3D models, and specifications, using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks.
- Excellent project‑management and communication skills to coordinate with external design firms, vendors, and internal teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills focused on safety, compliance, and quality in third‑party designs.
- Experience with control systems (PLC, SCADA) and BIM workflows for design coordination is highly desirable.
- Preferred:
Experience overseeing third‑party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data‑center facilities with stringent gas system requirements; proficiency in BIM tools and ability to mentor internal teams.
US base salary range: $89,000 – $151,000 per year. Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses, and equity.
