Job Overview

Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems in Syracuse, NY is seeking a full-time Mid Career Firmware Engineer (FPGA Design) with Modeling and Simulation experience and knowledge to support design and architecture development, implement FPGA designs, and integrate and troubleshoot designs. The role also involves innovation and deployment of algorithms, requirements, and modeling for Electronic Warfare (EW) systems related to military and space applications.

• Bachelors degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
• FPGA architecture and design, with applied knowledge of Xilinx, Intel or Microsemi FPGA devices and their application environments.
• Exercise latitude in determining technical objectives using FPGAs, microprocessors, DSPs, and interface controllers.
• Working knowledge of DSP and modeling (MATLAB or Python).
• Familiarity with FPGA firmware development including Verilog/System Verilog/VHDL.

• Ability to weigh design options within a trade space.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Technical expertise to implement designs with minimal direction.
• Proficiency in C/C++.
• Experience with estimation theory, precision emitter location, multivariate statistics, numerical methods, Matlab Coder.
• Extensive VHDL/Verilog/System Verilog firmware programming, with applied experience on Xilinx, Intel, or Microsemi devices.
• Use of Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or Microsemi Libero development platforms.
• Use of Mentor Questa HDL simulator with UVM verification techniques.
• Experience with MATLAB modeling.
• Advanced experience with Xilinx/Vivado and VHDL.
• Experience with higher‑level code development such as NVIDIA CUDA, OpenCL, Simulink HDL Coder, and Xilinx System Generator.

Part‑time remote telework is available; the employee will work part of their schedule remotely and part at a Lockheed Martin facility, as discussed during hiring.

Pay Rate: $101,000 – $178,135 annually in NY (excluding metro areas). Salary varies by location.
