Job Title:
Transmission & Distribution (T&D) / Substation Project Manager

OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented T&D / Substation Project Manager to support the planning, execution, and delivery of electrical transmission, distribution, and substation projects in the Syracuse region. This role is ideal for a candidate with early project management experience in utility or power infrastructure who is ready to take ownership of smaller-to-midscale projects and grow into more complex assignments.
The Project Manager will work closely with engineers, construction teams, utility clients, and subcontractors to ensure safe, on-time, and on-budget project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day execution of T&D and substation construction projects from initiation through closeout
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project alignment
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and progress reporting
- Oversee contractor performance, site activities, and construction quality assurance
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, utility specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Support outage planning, switching coordination, and commissioning activities
- Track project costs, change orders, and forecasting updates
- Attend client meetings and provide regular status updates and project documentation
- Assist senior project managers with larger, complex utility infrastructure projects
- 2+ years of experience in construction, utilities, or electrical infrastructure projects
- Exposure to transmission, distribution, or substation construction strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, one-lines, and substation diagrams
- Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
- Experience working with utility clients or EPC contractors
- Knowledge of substation equipment (breakers, transformers, switch gear)
- Understanding of OSHA safety standards and utility safety protocols
- Prior experience supporting energized work or outage coordination
- PMP certification or progress toward certification
