Job Description
Senior Mechanical–HVAC Engineer in the Advanced Manufacturing Division of Ramboll.
Ramboll seeks a Mechanical Engineer in our Binghamton, NY office. The selected candidate will have a desired focus area in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning related work and will be expected to work across a wide range of mechanical engineering knowledge areas.
- Performing design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, primarily HVAC, and also industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
- Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
- Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
- Creating design drawings using Revit 3D design software.
- Conducting or participating in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
- Assessing and designing building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
- Conducting spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
- Utilizing building modeling software (HAP or Trane Trace) to determine envelope heat gains and losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
- Specifying mechanical equipment.
- Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems.
- Summarizing engineering results in written reports and/or presentations of the highest quality.
- Visiting job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems, including day trips and overnight domestic trips.
- Adhering to the policies and standards set forth in Ramboll's Project Execution Manual.
- Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by following Ramboll's Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
- Licensed professional engineer strongly preferred.
- Ability to foster a creative engineering environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the mechanical engineering discipline.
- Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software preferred.
Anticipated base salary range for this position is $79,000 to $100,000 per year. Compensation may vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime, or other forms of compensation.
