Role descriptionArcadis is seeking an entry‑level Environmental Engineer to join our team in Syracuse, NY. The role will start in June 2026; candidates graduating in May 2026 are encouraged to apply.
As part of our Resilience Environment team, you will work alongside Senior Scientists, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on environmental assessment and remediation projects, especially supporting our emerging contaminant project portfolio and remediation capabilities.
Role accountabilitiesEngineering design and optimization support for treatment systems; providing program support for a diverse portfolio of projects for US Federal Government and industrial clients.
- Assist Project Managers and Task Managers with planning and performing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
- Civil/Environmental engineering design: land development planning, hydraulic modeling/calculations, erosion and sediment control evaluations and layout, and earthwork site design.
- Develop permit/construction‑level drawings and details, prepare technical specifications, and conduct construction cost evaluation/estimating.
- Prepare subcontracts and oversee subcontractors.
- Perform fieldwork with focus on health and safety, including soil, sediment, surface water and/or groundwater sampling, geotechnical investigations, and construction oversight.
- Write and prepare technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
- Office tasks: task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and subcontracts establishment.
Field work requires regional business travel up to 1–2 days per week, with occasional U.S. travel up to two weeks. Travel may be up to 75% during the first two years, reducing to ~50% by the third year. Travel expenses are reimbursable.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or closely related field (environmental, biological, physical science).
- EIT Certification.
- Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or closely related field.
- Current OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training.
- Experience with engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, HydroCAD, WinTR‑55, Pond Pack, HEC‑RAS, ArcGIS.

Nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. Salary range $54,648 - $81,972.
