Job Description & How to Apply Below
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Oversee third‑party design firms in the development of waste treatment systems, including chemical neutralization, wastewater treatment, and solid waste handling for hazardous and non‑hazardous materials.
- Review and validate third‑party design deliverables, such as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and system layouts, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards (e.g., EPA, RCRA, Clean Water Act).
- Conduct technical evaluations of third‑party designs, verifying performance metrics such as treatment efficiency, chemical compatibility, discharge compliance, and system safety.
- Collaborate with external design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to align waste treatment system designs with facility requirements and project timelines.
- Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third‑party designs, identifying and resolving issues related to regulatory compliance, constructability, or environmental impact.
- Ensure third‑party designs integrate seamlessly with other facility systems, such as chemical delivery or Ultra‑Pure Water (UPW) systems, using Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for coordination.
- Collaborate with 3rd‑party quality teams to ensure construction meets final requirements needed for operations.
- Oversee commissioning and testing phases by reviewing third‑party design performance and coordinating with vendors for equipment validation and system startup.
- Utilize BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) and control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) to verify design interoperability and ensure operational efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance to third‑party designers, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and advancements in wet mechanical system technologies.
- Monitor project progress, manage design‑related risks, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality design deliverables.
- May require occasional travel to project sites, vendor facilities, or third‑party design offices.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple design deliverables and deadlines.
- Relocation to project location is required. Position is 100% on‑site, no hybrid.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., PE, Hazardous Waste Operations Certification) are a plus.
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in waste treatment engineering, with at least 2 years overseeing third‑party design or managing design processes for wastewater, chemical, or solid waste treatment systems.
- Strong knowledge of waste treatment system design, including chemical neutralization, biological treatment, filtration, and hazardous waste disposal for industrial applications.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as EPA’s RCRA, Clean Water Act, SEMI S2, and local environmental codes.
- Proficiency in reviewing engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, 3D models, and specifications, using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks.
- Excellent project management and communication skills to coordinate with external design firms, vendors, and internal teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and quality in third‑party designs.
- Experience with control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) and BIM workflows for design coordination is highly desirable.
- Experience overseeing third‑party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities with stringent wet mechanical system requirements.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices, such as water conservation, energy‑efficient hydronic systems, and compliance with IECC (International Energy Conservation Code).
- Familiarity with clash detection and design integration processes using BIM tools.
- Ability to mentor internal teams or liaise effectively with external stakeholders to ensure design alignment.
