Job Purpose
National Grid is seeking an Associate Civil/Structural Engineer within its Substation Engineering and Design Department in Syracuse, NY. This engineer will work as part of a team to produce and review civil and structural engineering documents to support capital projects throughout National Grid's Upstate New York territory which vary in voltage from 4160V to 345kV.
Key Accountabilities- Responsible for assisting in substation design of steel and concrete features for the support of electrical components.
- Assist in providing written descriptions of civil engineering features.
- Assist in the review of engineering drawings, manufacturer drawings and equipment specifications.
- Assist in providing technical support provided to various departments including Engineering, Design, Operations and Construction.
- Assist in the support of construction and project closeout activities.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil / Structural Engineering or Civil / Structural Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited engineering school.
- Successful completion of NY State Fundamentals of Engineering exam desirable.
- Be willing to develop a personal initiative to interact with company personnel, contractors, and others in a positive, team building manner.
- Basic interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
- Basic problem solving and analytical skills.
- Valid driver's license required.
$91,000 - $106,000 per year
