Project Engineer - Highway / Roadway Design
Design Central New York highway and roadway infrastructure supporting NYSDOT, the City of Syracuse, and other municipal clients. Projects include corridor improvements, sidewalks, trails, and transportation projects across the region.
What You’ll Do- Complete highway design, drainage design, alignments, and related transportation engineering assignments.
- Develop preliminary and detailed design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects and infrastructure improvements.
- Maintain accurate records for design documents, progress reports, budgets, schedules, and project decisions.
- Coordinate with project managers, technical staff, clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, reviewers, and other disciplines.
- Mentor junior engineers and support client meetings, presentations, schedule management, and project development tasks.
- Provide technical support during construction, including RFIs, site visits, and construction‑progress review.
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of transportation experience, with highway engineering experience preferred.
- Professional Engineering license required.
- Experience with Micro Station and Open Roads.
- Ability to manage technical tasks, deadlines, documentation, quality, and changing priorities.
- Experience with NYSDOT design standards, roadway/drainage design, construction‑phase support, and multidisciplinary transportation project coordination.
- Strong client communication, ownership, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and sound judgment.

While this posting is aligned to the Syracuse, NY market, the role may support teams, projects, and client needs across multiple office locations. Candidates located near established office locations will be considered based on project needs, team alignment, licensure, client relationships, and growth priorities.

Salary: $95,000-$135,000 Annually
