We invite you to bring your AutoCAD Civil 3D and land development experience into play as you provide drafting and design support for data center, industrial, and other large-scale site development projects. This role will focus on efficient production of conceptual layouts and civil plan sets involving grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and erosion and sediment control. The preferred work location is Ramboll's Syracuse, New York office, where the position will support a growing national civil engineering team.
You will join our Civil Engineering and Design team
You will join Ramboll's Civil Engineering and Design team within the Environment & Health business. The team supports data center, mission‑critical, industrial, and other large‑scale development programs through site due diligence, conceptual master planning, preliminary engineering, permitting, detailed design, and construction support. You will collaborate with civil engineers, CAD designers, environmental specialists, geotechnical engineers, transportation professionals, utility specialists, and other technical disciplines.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Civil 3D drafting and design support for land development projects throughout due diligence, planning, design, permitting, and construction.
- Prepare and maintain site development plans, including grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, erosion control, and construction details using Civil 3D.
- Develop and manage Civil 3D models, including surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, pipe networks, and earthwork quantity calculations.
- Collaborate with engineers, surveyors, environmental specialists, and other project teams to produce accurate, coordinated drawings and technical deliverables.
- Ensure quality and compliance by maintaining organized project files, adhering to CAD standards, performing quality checks, and supporting field data collection and construction‑phase revisions.
- Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent experience in civil engineering technology, CAD drafting/design, surveying, or a related field.
- Approximately 3+ years of civil/site CAD drafting and design experience with strong proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience developing land development plans and Civil 3D models, including grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, pipe networks, surfaces, alignments, and profiles.
- Ability to interpret surveys, engineering markups, design calculations, and construction documents while producing accurate, high-quality deliverables under project deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; experience with Bluebeam Revu, Autodesk Forma, GIS, or data center/industrial projects is a plus.
- Strong production focus with consistent attention to drawing quality and file organization.
- Ability to work independently from clear direction and to ask timely questions when design intent is uncertain.
