Creighton Manning, a GAI Company, is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to work in our Syracuse office. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, team‑oriented environment and must be a team player who excels in collaborative settings and can independently lead traffic tasks with complex features, either directly or through supervision of others. Familiarity with DOT standards and MUTCD design requirements is required.
Responsibilities- Lead the production and verification of technical traffic reports, design plans, calculations, specifications, and cost opinions.
- Perform traffic modeling and analysis using tools such as Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, Sim Traffic, etc., as well as traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking design, and maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT) design.
- Serve as the task manager on projects.
- Provide technical guidance in applying advanced concepts and methods in the assigned area.
- Stay informed about new developments and requirements affecting the organization and recommend changes as appropriate.
- Develop new techniques, improved processes, materials, or products as needed.
- Oversee a project team of engineers and technicians.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate documentation or activity preparation for multiple major projects.
- Analyze project management plans for complex engineering projects.
- Apply risk management principles to address uncertainties in project delivery.
- Review operational procedures to ensure compliance with policies and performance measures.
- Receive administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad objectives and limits.
- Foster a professional, creative, flexible, and dependable environment for staff.
- Apply principles of formal, strategic, and persuasive communication.
- Represent the specialty area within the organization and liaise with related individuals and organizations.
- Interact routinely with organizational leaders, clients, officials, contractors, and others.
- Integrate teamwork and leadership concepts.
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering (or higher).
- 12+ years of experience in traffic engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with reciprocity in multiple states.
- Driver’s license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Micro Station CAD skills required;
Open Roads Designer experience is a plus.
Syracuse: $52.88–67.30 per hour (pay based on applicant’s ability/experience and labor market).
