Senior Technical Support Engineer – Electronic Assembly Materials

We are recruiting for a Senior Technical Support Engineer to join a global materials technology organization supporting electronics assembly and semiconductor manufacturing customers throughout North America.
This is a highly visible, customer-facing opportunity for an experienced engineer, materials specialist, or chemist who enjoys solving complex manufacturing problems and improving product and process performance.
The Senior Technical Support Engineer will work directly with customer engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to evaluate materials, troubleshoot assembly challenges, optimize production processes, and support new technologies from initial qualification through high-volume manufacturing.
What You’ll Do- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to electronics assembly and semiconductor manufacturing customers
- Support product selection, testing, qualification, new product introduction, production launch, and process optimization
- Troubleshoot SMT, PCBA, soldering, reflow, printing, dispensing, inspection, and rework challenges
- Lead material evaluations, process trials, benchmarking, characterization testing, and design-of-experiments initiatives
- Analyze solder material performance, including printability, head-in-pillow, voiding, reliability, and related performance characteristics
- Recommend material and process adjustments that improve yield, reliability, consistency, and manufacturing performance
- Translate customer requirements and field observations into actionable product and process improvements
- Partner with R&D, Product Management, Sales, Quality, and global technical teams to support strategic customers and long-term technology adoption
- Present technical findings through customer meetings, training sessions, industry events, and internal collaboration
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy
, or a related technical discipline - 10+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Electronic assembly materials
- SMT or PCBA manufacturing
- Soldering materials or soldering processes
- Semiconductor packaging and assembly
- Process engineering
- Applications engineering
- Technical service or customer-facing engineering
- Strong working knowledge of solder paste printing, dispensing, component placement, reflow, inspection, X-ray analysis, and rework processes
- Experience evaluating material and process performance through testing, characterization, statistical analysis, and DOE
- Familiarity with JMP, Minitab, or comparable analytical tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly
- Experience working directly with customers in a consultative technical capacity
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, commercial, manufacturing, and product-development teams
- Ability to travel throughout North America as customer needs require
Green Belt, Black Belt, SMTA Certified Process Engineer, or related technical certification is preferred.
