Overview

Jacobs is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to contribute to water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater projects. The role involves leading planning and design of water and wastewater conveyance systems, supporting both local and national projects, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team across offices and partners to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver water, wastewater, and water resources design projects.
  • Perform preliminary engineering analyses, calculations, data evaluation, and option assessment to determine the best solution and document recommendations.
  • Plan and design projects in alignment with company, construction, and government standards using design software and drawing resources.
  • Autonomously evaluate and improve standard techniques, procedures, criteria, and systems to meet project goals efficiently.
  • Engage in technical writing, review, and provide input to investigations, memorandums, or solution reports.
  • Prepare drawings and specifications, incorporating staff and supervisor markups, QA/QC comments, and changes as needed.
  • Coordinate information with other engineering disciplines and company offices.
  • Review work performed by others for adequacy at project completion.
  • Attend project meetings and coordinate work with project team members, supervisors, and clients.
  • Interface directly with clients as needed.
  • Mentor and support junior staff within the local and regional water group.
  • Participate in professional organizations for marketing, networking, and Jacobs brand development.
  • Possibly supervise one or more project engineers as a task manager on large projects or as a project manager on smaller projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to complete tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Ability and desire to use production tools such as ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, computer-aided design programs, and hydraulic modeling software.
  • Applied knowledge of basic engineering principles and prescribed methods.
  • Analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, well-organized, and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of local and state design codes and standards.
  • Substantial professional full-time experience in water, wastewater, and/or stormwater projects.
Ideal Additional Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Project or task management experience.
  • Academic or professional background in water resources, hydraulics/fluid mechanics/hydrology, and water/wastewater processes preferred.
  • Experience serving clients in drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater sectors.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $126,450, with pay determined by location, skills, experience, and education.
