The Innovation COE is looking for talented and motivated senior engineers who will be a part of Carrier's Innovation center of excellence, to enable the development of innovative and novel intelligent Climate and Energy technologies in HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration) applications. Innovation COE Americas is in Syracuse, which is the North American center for Carrier’s product design and development, as well as groundbreaking innovative research.
We ideate, design, verify and validate new products and technologies across Carrier's global portfolio, supporting Carrier’s goal to be the global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.
This senior engineer will be part of the Innovation COE, Americas, focusing on developing novel climate and energy systems in support of Carrier’s plan to develop the next generation of intelligent climate and energy solutions. Their focus will be on maturing early-stage technologies that enable electrification and energy management.
Key Responsibilities- Ideate on, and conduct initial feasibility studies of, new, emerging, and alternative technologies as applicable
- Develop and validate technology alternatives to the current status quo in HVAC/R systems, in collaboration with team members.
- Design test plans and conduct tests for systems, sub-systems, and components in adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
- Identify solutions to improve system and component-level performance.
- Deploy multiscale model-based predictions and validate them through experimentation and analysis.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation plans by working with multidisciplinary teams, SMEs, and stakeholders to drive and implement appropriate risk reduction methodologies.
- Communicate progress, risks, and insights to technical and executive leadership
- Demonstrate analytical thinking and a collaborative attitude while working in a group of professionals with diverse technical experiences and backgrounds.
- Take ownership of assigned projects and milestones, and continue to grow and expand in roles and responsibilities within the innovation COE
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Thermal, Chemical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering with 4 years of hands-on experience in engineering
- Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Thermal, Chemical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering with 2 years of hands-on experience in engineering
- PhD in Engineering and 1 year of hands-on experience in engineering
- Team-oriented personality with the capability to work well in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams
- Knowledge of HVAC&R and/or Energy Systems and/or electrical (batteries) or thermal storage systems
- 2+ years of experience in heat transfer, thermodynamic cycles, fluid dynamics, or related engineering domains
- 2+ years of experience with physics-based modeling and simulation tools (e.g., CFD, FEA, or system-level modeling)
- 2+ years of experience designing, executing, and analyzing system- and component-level testing for technology validation
