Senior Systems Engineer

SAAB is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer to lead complex defense manufacturing programs from concept through delivery. You will own system architecture, requirements, and integration for advanced air, land, and naval solutions, using MBSE to align multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include decomposing customer needs, conducting trade studies, overseeing verification/validation, and ensuring compliance with safety, reliability, and defense standards. You'll mentor engineers, collaborate globally, and drive innovative, mission-critical solutions that enhance long-term security worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end system architecture and design for advanced defense products
• Decompose customer and mission requirements into system and subsystem specifications
• Apply MBSE and digital engineering tools to model, analyze, and document system behavior
• Plan and oversee system integration, verification, and validation across hardware and software
• Ensure compliance with safety, reliability, and relevant defense/aerospace standards
• Conduct trade studies, risk assessments, and design reviews to optimize performance and cost
• Collaborate with cross-functional and international teams in engineering and manufacturing
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers
• Support production transition, configuration management, and change control
• Engage with customers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and present technical solutions
